Joey Logano (Team Penske) beat Jimmie Johnson (Hendrick Motorsports) in the final qualifying session of the Nascar Sprint Cup to clinch the pole at Michigan International Speedway after completing a lap of the two-mile oval in 35. This is the third pole won by the driver of the No. 697 Ford on this circuit.
Denny Hamlin (Joe Gibbs Racing) finished half a tenth ahead of Kevin Harvick (Stewar-Haas Racing) and Chase Elliott (Hendrick Motorsports).
