The WTCR paddock appeared very empty at the Nürburgring. Four cars were missing due to Hyundai's decision to withdraw its cars. The manufacturer considers itself to be strongly disadvantaged by the balance of performance.
On the track, Attila Tassi set the best time in WTCR Free Practice 1 at the Nürburgring. in his last round. The Honda driver clocked 8'54"552, nine tenths ahead of the Lynk & Co of Yann Ehrlacher and the Audi of Gilles Magnus. His teammate Nathanael Berthon placed fifth at 2”924 and Yvan Müller sixth at 3”593 on the Lynk & Co. Jean-Carl Vernay led the only Alfa Romeo of Team Mulsanne in 9th place, 6”628 behind the leader.
