The promoter Gulf 12 Hours, notably responsible for the 12 Hours of Abu Dhabi, announced the creation of a new endurance race reserved for ProAm cars. The event will be open exclusively to ProAm and Am driver combinations, while Pro crews will not be permitted. The “Bahrain ProAm 1000” will take place at the Sakhir circuit, on the route usually used for the Formula 1 and or the WEC will go to the end of the season for a double header. “We have a long and successful history of endurance racing in Bahrain and we are delighted to be able to bring this new initiative to the Bahrain International Circuit. We look forward to working with the Driving Force Events team to deliver a memorable race for all participants”, said Sherif Al Mahdy, the commercial director of the circuit. For Andrea Ficarelli, director of Driving Force Events, “Motorsport endurance racing exists and succeeds thanks to the passion of thousands of gentleman and semi-professional drivers. We think it's time to launch a new, totally tailor-made event around them, on one of the most prestigious circuits in the world. » The categories will be open to cars complying with GT3, GT4 and Cup regulations.
