Alexander albon (DAMS) signs a second consecutive pole position in Formula 2 on the Barcelona route (Spain). The Thai, however, made a gamble by remaining in the pits following the red flag caused by the new exit from the track of Santino Ferrucci (Trident). Albon came away with a time of 1'28''142, more than a second less than the pole of Charles Leclerc last year.

Nyck de Vries (Prema Racing) secures a second place ahead of Luca Ghiotto (Campos). George Russell (ART GP) must be satisfied with a 4e places a few hundredths ahead of his teammate Jack Aitken. Nicholas latifi tried the same bet as his teammate but he did not hold out and the DAMS driver found himself 6e ahead of Tadasuke Makino (Russian Time) and Lando Norris (Pug). The MP Motorsport of Ralph Boschung and Roberto Merhi complete the top 10.
