Quadruple winner of the Indianapolis 500, Helio Castroneves (Meyer Shank Racing) can make history on May 29. If he wins the Indy 500, the Brazilian would then be the sole record holder for victories at the Brickyard.
The 47-year-old driver will undoubtedly be motivated by this challenge. As if that wasn't enough, the Borg-Warner company (responsible for the eponymous trophy awarded to the winner) is adding a bit more by promising to give him a check for $400 if he achieves the 000-2021 double! The prize is reserved for drivers who win two consecutive editions of the Indy 2022 in quick succession.
Alongside the @BorgTrophy, there's a $400K jackpot reserved for back-to-back # Indy500 winners, in case @ h3lio wins. What do you think? Will he secure the trophy AND the bag? 💰 pic.twitter.com/GJcdf1lme1

Wink of destiny, Helio Castroneves is the only athlete to have been awarded the jackpot, thanks to a double achieved in 2001 and 2002. This award was introduced in 1995. Each year, 20 dollars are added to the prize pool.
“BorgWarner is very proud of our long history with this historic motorsport event, and we love to up the ante with this jackpot, said Frédéric Lissalde, President of BorgWarner. We can't wait to see if Helio hits the jackpot again or if another driver will be immortalized on this year's coveted Borg-Warner Trophy. »
