Conor Daly leaves Ed Carpenter Racing

The driver who will take his seat in the No. 20 Ed Carpenter Racing Dallara will no longer be the same as of the Road America Grand Prix on June 18. Conor Daly has indeed announced his departure from the teamIndyCar this Wednesday, June 7, through social networks:

« Although we mutually decided that it was in our best interest to take different paths, I would like to thank ECR for the last three and a half seasons,” said Conor Daly. “I am grateful to everyone who supported me – yesterday, today and tomorrow. I look forward to pursuing the next opportunities that come my way, and I want to thank the fans for joining me on this journey. »

A native of Indianapolis, Conor Daly's best result was 5th place at the Indianapolis GP in 2022; he also led the Indianapolis 500 for 7 laps that same year. After seven racesIndyCar contested in 2023, Conor Daly is only 20th in the Drivers' ranking. The identity of his replacement has not been revealed.

“This is the hardest decision I have made as a team owner because I respect Conor and know what he means to IndyCar and its fans“said Ed Carpenter, owner of the eponymous team. “Our team did not reach the level of performance it is capable of this year, and despite the technical changes and investments made during the offseason, 2023 has been extremely difficult. I have thought a lot about the current state of our team and realize that it is my duty to our employees, our partners and our supporters to do whatever is necessary to improve the competitiveness of our team.

“We sincerely wish Conor continued success and will be cheering him on wherever he goes next.” »
