The championship leader Nyck de Vries (Mercedes) started this final day of the season by setting the best time in the first free practice session in Berlin. With a lap of the Berlin track completed in 1'06"688, the Dutchman is ahead of reigning champion António Félix da Costa (DS Techeetah) by a little more than a tenth and Oliver Rowland (Nissan e.Dams) by almost 2 tenths.
Winner of the first E-Prix of the weekend this Saturday, Lucas di Grassi (Audi) is 6th, almost 3 tenths behind Nyck de Vries. The French Jean-Éric Vergne (DS Techeetah) and Norman Nato (Venturi) are 4th and 11th respectively.
