It's a legend that North American motorsport has just lost. Kevin Kalkhoven died this Tuesday, January 4 at the age of 78. The Australian by birth had distinguished himself in the United States for his passion for racing.
In Uncle Sam's country, Kevin Kalkhoven, in association with his friend Jimmy Vasser, launched his PK Racing team in 2003 before renaming it KV Racing Technology later. Together, the two men will glean up to 7 victories including the Indy 500 with Tony Kanaan in 2013.
Frenchman Sébastien Bourdais had the chance to offer the last success to KV Racing Technology during the Detroit Grand Prix in 2016 before the team closed its doors the following year.

Even away from the circuits, Kevin Kalkhoven had motorsport in the back of his mind. Along with Gerald Forsythe and Paul Gentilozzi, he took over CART (Champ Car), then bankrupt, in 2004 to relaunch it before the union withIndyCar in 2008. The same year, he bought Cosworth Engineering (from Ford) with Gerald Forsythe thus ensuring an engine supplier to the North American championship.
