Drugovich leads the morning in Barcelona, Pourchaire eighth

Highly visible since the start of the 2022 championship, Felipe Drugovich (MP Motorsport) continues his momentum in Barcelona. The Brazilian driver set the best time of this last day of free practice on the Spanish track, at midday. For the moment he is ahead of the academy pilots Red Bull et Alpine, Liam Lawson (Carlin) and Jack Doohan (Virtuosi Racing). For his part, Theo Pourchaire set the eighth time (+0'492), while Clément Novalak, the other Frenchman on the grid, raised the only red flag of the morning.

Summary of the morning

It is under a clearer sky that the pilots of the antechamber of the F1 were able to ride during this last morning of testing. Throughout these three hours of driving, the drivers worked on qualifying and race simulations, alternating between soft and hard tires. Lawson was the first to take the lead, thanks to a time (1'27'820) already much faster than the best time from two previous days, set by Swiss driver Ralph Boschung (Campos Racing).

But the mark set by Drugovich afterwards, two tenths faster, remained at the top of the timesheet at the end of the morning. Great performance also for Dennis Hauger, titled in F3 last year, and whose start to the season has so far been more than timid. After Nissany this Wednesday, the good form of the Dams team continues, with the fifth fastest time achieved by the young Japanese Ayumu Iwasa. He is only a few hundredths ahead of the Prema of Jehan Daruvala, as well as the single-seaters of Théo Pourchaire (ART Grand Prix) and Enzo Fittipladi (Charouz Racing).

Note that the only incident midday was to be attributed to Clément Novolak (MP Motorspot), stopped at the exit of the second turn, causing an interruption of almost thirty minutes.
