Not far from his homeland, the Swiss Louis Delétraz (Carlin) set the best time in Free Practice 1 of the Formula 2, disputed on the Red Bull Ring (Austria). He is ahead Nyck de Vries (ART Grand Prix) by only 58 thousandths.

The first rookie is Guanyu-Zhou (UNI-Virtuosi Racing), in ninth place. Mick Schumacher (Prema) recorded the 12th time, half a second behind Louis Delétraz. As for the French Giuliano Alesi (Trident) and Anthoine Hubert (Arden), they are still discreet in 14th and 15th place, seven and nine tenths from the leader. Finally, the debutant Patricio O'Ward (MP Motorsport) from the United States, set the 18th time.
