Testing – Vips dominates eventful session

After Monaco, the Formula 2 goes to another circuit where mistakes can happen very quickly. In Baku, Jüri Vips managed to come out on top on his last lap of the practice session to set the best time of the session in 1'55″924. The Estonian finished just ahead of Liam Lawson who took pole position at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix last year. Vips' teammate at Hitech, Marcus Armstrong completed the podium.

For his return to Formula 2 after missing two rounds (Barcelona and Monaco), Ralph Boschung put himself forward by setting the best provisional time. Finally, his mistake at turn 5 with 16 minutes remaining cost him first position. The Campos Racing driver lost the rear of his car and came to finish his race in the wall causing a red flag.

Ten minutes before, it was Clément Novalak who made a mistake, also leading to a momentary interruption of the race. The other Frenchman on the set, Theo Pourchaire he had to settle for 15th place while his rival for the title, Felipe Drugovich finished in 7th position. In the first sector, many drivers were trapped and caused many yellow flags. These racing incidents should punctuate the qualifying scheduled for 14:30 p.m.
