Fe – Agag highlights the role of manufacturers

The third season of the Formula e kicked off last weekend in Hong Kong with a victory for reigning champion Sébastien Buemi (Renault e.dams) ahead of Lucas di Grassi (Abt Schaeffler Audi Sport).

The two drivers are driving car whose design was largely supervised by the manufacturers Renault and Audi. According to Alejandro Agag, promoter of Formula e, the role of brands is becoming more and more important in the 100% electric single-seater championship, and the possible arrival of Mercedes in 2018 only confirms the growing interest in the discipline.

“These are the players who will develop the technology, and they also make road cars, so they can use this technology on their production, comments Agag.

We saw, for example, at the Paris Motor Show, that Renault unveiled a concept car that uses their Formula E powertrain. So there is already an immediate example of technology transfer from Formula e to a road car. »
