Sébastien Buemi (Renault e.Dams) set the best time in the first practice session of the Mexico ePrix. The Swiss took advantage of the last minutes to set a time of 1'03"995, beating his closest opponent by almost four tenths. Loïc duval (Dragon Racing).

Oliver Turvey (Nextev TCR FE Team) finished third, already more than a second behind. The Briton is ahead of Nicolas Cheers (Renault e.Dams) and Daniel Abt (Abt Audi Sport). Jérôme d'Ambrosio (Dragon Racing) took sixth time ahead of Stéphane Sarrazin (Venturi FE Team). Jean-Éric Vergne (DS Virgin Racing) is 13th, four positions behind Lucas di Grassi (Abt Audi Sport), Sébastien Buemi's direct rival in the Championship.

Simona de Silvestro (Andretti FE) had the worst time after stopping on the track following a mechanical problem which appears to be related to the battery.
