Buenos Aires-EL1: José María López takes the lead

On his land in Argentina, the DS Virgin Racing driver set the best time in the first free practice session for the Buenos Aires ePrix in 1'09″431. The three-time WTCC world champion was ahead of Frenchman Jean-Eric Vergne (Techeetah) by more than five tenths and Mitch Evans (Panasonic Jaguar Racing) by 680 thousandths at the end of the session.

Sébastien Buemi place first Renault e.dams in fourth place at 0″874, while Sam Bird (DS Virgin Racing) completes the top 5 at 0″940, and remains the last driver in the same second as the leader. Nicholas Cheers (Renault e.dams) signs the seventh time, Loïc duval (Faraday Future Dragon Racing) finished 12th when Stéphane Sarrazin (Venturi) finished in 15th place.

The session was marked by the crash of António Félix da Costa (Amlin Andretti), which caused a first red flag, before stopping again with his second car on track in the final minutes of these FP1, forcing officials to end the session prematurely.
