Sam Bird (DS Virgin Racing) set the fastest time during the first practice session of the Formula e in Valencia (Spain). With a lap completed in 1'18''669, the Briton was ahead of the Audi e-tron FE04 of Lucas di Grassi and Daniel Abt by a few hundredths. His teammate Alex Lynn took fourth place ahead of the Jaguars of Mitch Evans and Nelson Piquet Jr.
The pilots Renault e.dams are further behind since Sébastien Buemi ranked eighth ahead of his teammate Nicolas Cheers finishing behind Felix Rosenqvist (Mahindra Racing), first driver more than a second behind the benchmark.
Jean-Éric Vergne (Techeetah) finished just outside the top ten behind Oliver Turvey (NIO) while his teammate André Lotterer, who is making his debut in Formula EA, finished in 16th place. Jérôme d'Ambrosio (Dragon Racing) finished 13th.
