Will Power (Team Penske) is involved in a spectacular accident with Mike conway (AJ Foyt Entreprises) who left the pits after hitting several of his mechanics. The Briton lost control of his car at turn 1 just in front of the Championship leader. Helio Castroneves (Team Penske) narrowly avoided a wheel that hit his right front tire.
This accident interrupted the race on the 80th lap while Marco Andretti (Andretti) was in the lead ahead of Scott Dixon and Dario Franchitti (Target Chip Ganassi Racing). Rubens Barrichello (KV Racing Technology) is 13th. Simon Pagneaud (Sam Schmidt) Hamilton) occupies 18th position while his compatriot Sébastien Bourdais (Dragon Racing) is 27th.
After briefly leading at the restart by extending his stint, simon pagenaud gives up his place to the leader and is once again one lap behind, a few seconds before a new interruption of the race caused on the 90th lap by Ana Beatriz (Andretti) who lost control of her DW12.
