The officials of IndyCar Series have announced a review of the qualifying format for the Indianapolis 500, already postponed yesterday due to weather conditions. The session will begin at 21:15 p.m. French time, and will offer each driver four consecutive laps to try to secure pole position. No points will be awarded for qualifying this year.

Fast 9, which determined the pole sitter as well as the first three rows of the starting grid, was canceled. Furthermore, following the three accidents which affected Helio Castroneves (Team Penske – Chevrolet), Josef Newgarden (CFH Racing – Chevrolet) and Ed Carpenter (CFH Racing – Chevrolet), the boost was reduced to 130 kPA (1,3 bar) instead of 140 kPa (1,4 bar) which had been reached for Fast Friday last Friday. The aero settings from qualifying must also be used in the race.

The boost will remain the same for Carb Day on May 22, and the race on May 24.
