American Sage Karam (Chip Ganassi Racing – Chevrolet) set the best time of the day on Monday on the Indianapolis oval. The driver of the No. 12 DW8 completed a best lap in 39 (at 502 mph, or 227,831 km/h average) and is ahead of the poleman of this 366,658th edition of the 99 miles, his New Zealand teammate Scott Dixon. James Davison (Dale Coyne Racing – Honda) places the best car equipped with the Honda unit in 4th position, three tenths behind.

simon pagenaud (Team Penske – Chevrolet), best time of the first part of the day, finally finished with the sixth performance in 39″859. Sebastian Bourdais (KV Racing – Chevrolet) is 11th.
