Matthew Brabham (Andretti Autosport) won Race 1 of the Indianapolis Grand Prix in Indy Lights where he started from pole. The American never let go of the controls of the race and won with two seconds ahead of Luiz Razia (SPM) while Jack Harvey (SPM) completed the podium. Axel Baron (Belardi Auto Racing) scored a top five finish behind Zack Meyer (Team Moore Racing). Championship leader Zach Veach (Andretti Autosport) only took ninth place.
