The organizers of theIndyCar introduce a big novelty this season. During the event which will take place in Iowa on June 22, in fact, three qualifying races, of 30 laps each, will replace the traditional qualifying sessions, during which the drivers take the track one after the other. The composition of these three groups will be determined based on the free practice rankings. In group 1 the 10 fastest will compete, who will occupy places 1 to 10 on the starting grid; in 2 those who will compete for the “odd” positions from 11 (11, 13 15…); and finally in 3 the “even” positions (12, 14, 16…). A format that will allow fans gathered around this 0,875 mile (1,407 kilometer) oval to see the drivers compete in the race on Saturday and Sunday.
