Chevrolet was doubly penalized after the Detroit event. The engine manufacturer received a first sanction of ten points for having violated the technical regulations by working on torque control and traction control. The Bow Tie manufacturer also received a second ten-unit penalty for changing the engine of the No. 12 Team Penske DW2 driven by Juan-Pablo Montoya before it had reached minimum running.
