On April 21, Takuma Sato became, at the 39th Long Beach Grand Prix, the first Japanese to achieve a victory in IndyCar Series. And it seems that the ex-pilot of F1 emulated in the Land of the Rising Sun. Dale Coyne Racing plans to allow his compatriot Ryo Hirakawa to carry out tests by the end of the year. It could even be that the young Japanese driver will be requisitioned on August 21, in Sonoma (California), during a collective testing session. Dale Coyne would have even considered making his racing debut the following weekend, on this same track, but a clash of dates with Super Formula should undermine this possibility.

Aged only 19, Hirakawa won the championship crown last year in F3 Japanese. This season, he is the Frenchman's teammate Loïc duval within the Kygnus Sunoco Team LeMans in Super Formula (formerly Formula Nippon).
