Juan Pablo Montoya (Team Penske) set the best time in the first practice session on the Toronto street circuit (Canada) with a time of 1'00"634. The Championship leader was a tenth ahead of his teammate simon pagenaud, while Josef Newgarden (CFH Racing) completes the leading trio just ahead of his teammate Luca Filippi and Sébastien Bourdais (KVSH Racing). Stefano Coletti (KV Racing Technology) finished the session in 20th place. Tristan Vautier (Dale Coyne Racing) is 22nd.
