The second free practice session of the Toronto meeting allowed simon pagenaud (Team Penske – Chevrolet) to shine on the urban layout of the Canadian city. The championship leader completed his best lap in 1'01″708 and is ahead of his teammates Helio Castroneves of 201 thousandths and Will Power of 349 thousandths. Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing – Chevrolet) took fourth place at 362 thousandths, while James Hinchcliffe (SPM – Honda) completed the top 5.
The session was marked by the exits of Juan Pablo Montoya (Team Penske – Chevrolet) and Charlie Kimball (Chip Ganassi Racing – Chevrolet) at turn 11. There car of the Colombian was largely damaged on the right side.
