Dario Franchitti (Ganassi-Honda) will start from pole in Edmonton, taking advantage of the ten-place penalty imposed on Ryan Hunter-Reay (Andretti-Chevrolet) for an engine change while the Championship leader had set the best time. The grid is shaken up by several penalties for engine changes, notably Will Power (Team Penske-Chevrolet) seventh and Scott Dixon (Ganassi-Honda) next. simon pagenaud (Schmidt Motorsports-Honda) will start from sixth place while Sébastien Bourdais (Dragon Racing-Chevrolet) will take 12th position.
