BAND, the promoter of the inaugural round of the 2015 season ofIndyCar Series in Brasilia, announced the cancellation of the event which was to be held on March 8. “The announcement is both unexpected and disappointing, it is indicated in a press release from IndyCar. IndyCar had received every indication that the race was already a success: Two-thirds of the seats available for the event had already been sold, a title sponsor of the event (ITAIPAVA) was announced yesterday and construction of the track was underway and expected to be completed on time. Although we have not received official confirmation from our partners in Brazil regarding the cancellation, IndyCar is protected economically and the paddock is protected from litigation. »
