Jim McElreath, former resident of the USAC and CART series in the United States, died yesterday Thursday at the age of 89. Elected Rookie of the 500 Indianapolis 1962 for his first participation, Jim McElreath started a total of fifteen times in the legendary American event, finishing 6th in 1962, third in 1966 (his best result) and twice fifth in 1967 and 1970.
USAC vice-champion in 1966, McElreath also finished 3rd in 1963, 1965 and 1970. AUTO editorial staffhebdo sends its sincere condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of Jim McElreath.
