At the end of the Twin Ring Motegi event, Dario Franchitti apologized after destroying the race of his teammates Graham Rahal and Charlie Kimball following his collision with Ryan Briscoe (Team Penske). The Scotsman ceded control of the Championship to his rival Will Power (Team Penske) after placing eighth in the race.

“The accident is entirely my fault”, admits Dario Franchitti. “I had done a lot of work to come back from ninth to fifth place and I managed to save fuel during my first stint. I made a risky maneuver at the restart thinking there was space between Ryan (Briscoe) and me. I apologize to Rahal and Chip Ganassi. I will also apologize to Briscoe and Charlie (Kimball) when I see them. »
