As he told AUTOhebdo this week, Bertrand Baguette feels more and more comfortable behind the wheel of his car of Conquest Racing in IndyCar. On the Kentucky oval, the Belgian set the sixth fastest time in qualifying for the penultimate round of the championship.

"I have to admit I'm a little surprised by our speed, declares the RACB pilot. We are faster than I thought, perhaps because we did not do any qualifying runs during free practice. I made a small mistake on my second lap which cost us a little, so I didn't think at the end of qualifying I would find myself in sixth position on the starting grid. We placed both our cars in the Top 10 beating teams like Ganassi and Penske. It’s very encouraging for us.”

At the end of this session, it was Ed Carpenter (Panther) who took pole position ahead of championship leader Will Power, who defended the colors of Penske Racing. The latter's main rival for the title, the Scotsman Dario Franchitti, set the 12th time, at the wheel of his Chip Ganassi Racing car.
