After a first season in IndyCar within the De Ferran Dragon Racing team, the young Brazilian has just signed with the AFS Racing team.
Absent from testing at Barber Motorsports Park at the start of the week, Raphael Matos reached a last-minute agreement to be on the starting grid for the 2011 season which will take place on March 27 at the St Petersburg city circuit (Florida).
He will ride with the AFS Racing team with which he had already raced in Indy Lights. The team already has experience in IndyCar having worked in the past with the Andretti Autosport structure on one-off engagements. Like that of Franck Montagny in Sonoma in 2009. This brings the number of cars registered in St Petersburg to 26.
