Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing) was the fastest in the first tests of theIndyCar contested at Texas Motor Speedway which were delayed due to rain. The four-time champion set a time of 23, more than a tenth ahead of his closest rival, Charlie Kimball (Chip Ganassi Racing).
Tristan Vautier (Dale Coyne Racing), Esteban Gutiérrez's replacement, set the 16th time, 4 tenths off the reference time. His compatriot simon pagenaud (Team Penske) placed 12th.
Alexander Red (Andretti Herta Autosport) completed the top three ahead of Graham Rahal (Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing) and Marco Andretti (Andretti Autosport). Takuma Sato (Andretti Autosport) finished 6th.
