The officials of IndyCar Series announced that Juan Pablo Montoya and Oriol Servia would be engaged to carry out tests with the universal aerodynamic kit, which will be introduced in 2018. The first runs with the kit, installed on the Dallara IR-12 chassis, will be carried out on 25 and 26 next July on the Indianapolis oval.

Other tests will be held on the Mid-Ohio road course, as well as the short oval in Iowa and on an “urban” track designed at the Sebring International Raceway in Florida. Team Penske will provide a car with the Chevrolet block for Montoya, when Schmidt Peterson Motorsports fields the car powered by the Honda bi-turbo V6 for Servia.

“The IndyCar will retain control over the chassis and test data so as not to provide the test team with an advantage for the 2018 season. Data and results will be distributed to all teams once the test is complete. » further clarified the American championship.
