The Team Penske driver set the best time of the second day of the Indy 500 Open Test with a lap completed in 36.
Fast, Josef Newgarden reached the average mark of 227 mph (around 365 km/h) over one lap. During the second day he reached 226,8 mph or 364 km/h.
Second and third at the finish, Takuma Sato (RLL) and Juan Pablo Montoya (Arrow McLaren SP) were the other two drivers to break the 226 mph average mark at Indianapolis during the third session of this Open Test.
French side, simon pagenaud (Team Penske), winner of the 2019 edition, finished 11th while Sébastien Bourdais (A.J. Foyt) settled for 26th place.
