Helio Castroneves (Team Penske) won its first race of the season, the Indy Grand Prix of Alabama at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham. The Brazilian interrupts the winning streak of Will Power, his teammate, who won the first two races and took pole in Alabama. The best drivers from last season return to the front, with Scott Dixon finishing second ahead of Dario Franchitti. Will Power is fourth, Marco Andretti fifth, Ryan Briscoe sixth. Bertrand Baguette, for his first race, ranked 20th and best rookie, behind Danica Patrick.
