Sato pockets more than $2 million

After his victory at the 101^e edition of the Indianapolis 500, Takuma Sato pocketed the sum of $2.458.129 from a joint prize pool of more than $13 million. The first Japanese winner of the Indy 500 was ahead of the line Helio Castroneves who won the sum of $770.629.

Ed Jones, the first rookie to cross the line in third position, won $535.629. However, he did not collect the rookie of the year award awarded to Fernando Alonso who accumulated $305.805 during his month of May in Indianapolis.
