Almost two months after the Indy 500 and Marcus Ericsson's victory (Chip Ganassi Racing), theIndyCar returned to the ovals by setting up base camp in Newton, Iowa for a double-header this weekend.
For the first outing on the 1,4 kilometer Iowa Speedway, it was Will Power (Penske) who stood out as the fastest man on the track. The Australian topped the timesheets with a best lap of 19 for an average speed of 5729 mph. On the line, the 173,285 champion beat Conor Daly (Ed Carpenter Racing) and another member of captain Roger Penske's armada, Scott McLaughlin. Latest recruit as of Mclaren racing, Alex Palou (Chip Ganassi Racing) ranked 4e just ahead of Pato O'Ward (Arrow McLaren SP).

The Tricolores, for their part, were discreet. Best representative of France in Iowa, simon pagenaud (Meyer Shank Racing) only finished 17e ranked by more than 3 tenths with an average speed of 170.015 mph. Romain Grosjean (Andretti) finished 23e with a total of 95 laps completed.
