Nobuharu Matsushita (ART GP) thanks to a great first lap, takes pole position at Monza. He is the first to beat Charles Leclerc (Prema) in pure exercise this season. With a time of 1'30''982, he is ahead Nyck de Vries (Racing Engineering) and Louis Delétraz (Rapax).

Artem Markelov (Russian Time) is doing the best among the big names with a 4e place ahead of Roberto Merhi (Rapax) and Jordan King (MP Motorsport). So far ultra dominant in qualifying, Charles Leclerc pays for several mistakes made and finds himself in 7e place almost 4 tenths from pole.

Antonio Fuoco (Prema) stays close to his teammate in 8e place ahead of Santino Ferrucci (Trident) and Alex Albon (ART GP) for the top 10. Oliver Rowland (DAMS) is only 13e et Norman Born (Arden) 15e.

The session was doubly interrupted by the two Tridents of Ferrucci and Nabil Jeffri who stopped on the track and did not allow any concrete improvements.
