The first two levels of the Mazda Road to Indy, these championships which train the drivers to join theIndyCar, will have a new common chassis in the coming years. A call for tenders has been launched to equip USF2000 in 2017 and the Pro Mazda Championship in 2018, with the new Dallara IL-15 chassis for Indy Lights coming into use this season.
Only certain specific elements regarding power and aerodynamics will separate the two series. The engine will be a Mazda MZR 2.0l which will develop around 170hp in USF2000 and 270hp in Pro Mazda Championship. Cooper will supply the rubbers.
