Sergio Sette Câmara (Carlin) took his first pole position in F2 on the Budapest circuit. In 1'27''400, he is 30 thousandths ahead of Jack Aitken (ART GP) who had made the bet to ride mid-session without traffic and without being able to benefit from the improvement of the track. Nyck de Vries (Prema Racing) ranks 3e but relegated to 2 tenths of the first row in front of George Russell (ART GP).
The third line is made up of Luca Ghiotto (Campos) and Lando Norris (Pug). Russian Artem Markelov (Russian Time) finishes 7e of the session in front of Arjun Maini (Trident). The Swiss Ralph Boschung (MP Motorsport) and Louis Delétraz (Charouz Racing) complete the top 10.
