George Russell (ART GP) set the best time in free practice for the F2 in 1'14''159 on the Austrian circuit of Red Bull Ring. He leads by more than a tenth in front Alexander albon (DAMS) and two tenths over Roberto Merhi (MP Motorsport).
Sergio Sette Câmara ranks 4e of the session and ahead of his teammate Lando Norris, the two Pugs only separated by Nyck de Vries (Prema Racing). Antonio Fuoco places his Charouz Racing in 7e place and ahead of Artem Markelov (Russian Time).
Although involved in a collision with Roy Nissany (Campos), Jack Aitken placed 9e ahead of the regional of the stage: Maximilian Günther (Arden). The session was disrupted by the stop on the Nirei Fukuzumi track (Arden) 5 minutes from the checkered flag.
