Saturday's rain gave way to sunshine on this coronation day. For the last race of the season Formula E, contested in Seoul (South Korea), the qualifications took place in dry conditions. For the 100th qualifying session in FE history (and the last in Gen2), it was Antonio Félix da Costa (DS Techeetah) who took pole position. The Portuguese driver was most comfortable on the circuit around the Olympic stadium in the South Korean capital. He successively beat Robin Frijns, Jake Dennis and finally Eduardo Mortara in the final.
For the championship, things smell good for Stoffel Vandoorne (Mercedes). The Belgian qualified in 4th place, eliminated in the semi-final by Mortara. The Belgian only needs to score 6 points during the E-Prix to be crowned. Mitch Evans (Jaguar), his last opponent for the title, missed out in qualifying and will only start in 13th place. It will therefore take a miracle for the New Zealand driver to be champion.
On the French side, Jean-Éric Vergne (DS Techeetah) will start in 8th place after being eliminated by Vandoorne in the quarter-final. Norman Nato (Jaguar) will start from 16th place. Sacha Fenestraz (Dragon Penske) was called up at the last minute to replace Antonio Giovinazzi, injured in Race 1. The Franco-Argentinian qualified in 21st place.
