Yuki tsunoda (Carlin) achieved the best time in free practice for the second round of the FIA season F2 on the Austrian Spielberg route. The Japanese dominated the session in 1'15"692, a time sufficient to beat the Russian by 0"146 Nikita mazepin (Hitech GP) and by more than three tenths Jeha Daruvala (Carlin).

Giuliano Alesi (HWA Racelab) climbed to a promising fifth place before qualifying, having conceded just under four tenths on Tsunoda. The leading drivers from the previous weekend, namely Callum Ilott (Uni-Virtuosi) and Felipe Drugovich (MP Motorsport) ranked 13th and 20th.

The session was marked by the exit from the track of Mick Schumacher (Prema Racing), causing a red flag. The German was only able to complete four short laps in these tests. Qualifying will begin at 17 p.m.
