They never leave each other anymore. After competing for victory in the main race last week in Belgium, Yuki tsunoda (Pug) and Nikita mazepin (Hitech) this time bickered for first place in the free practice of the Formula 2 in Monza this Friday. And as in the Ardennes, it is the Japanese of Red Bull Junior Team which got the better of the Russian, finally 3rd with 63 thousandths behind.

While the entire field focused on the long stints in the second part of the session, Christian Lundgaard (ART Grand Prix), in difficulty for two weekends, set the 2nd time, 58 thousandths behind Tsunoda. DAMS also shone thanks to Daniel Ticktum (DAMS), at the bottom of the Top 3 (4th). In the direct battle for the title, Callum Ilott finished higher (6th) than championship leader Robert Shwartzman (12th). Note the excellent session of Giuliano Alesi (HWA Racelab), 11th with four tenths ahead of his teammate Artem Markelov. The session was disrupted by the engine failure of Guilherme Samaia (Campos).
