The modified schedule for the Japanese Grand Prix

Although maintained on the 2022 calendar, the Japanese Grand Prix (September 23-25) will ultimately have a different program. Friday's day was in fact modified after consultation between the FIM, the IRTA and Dorna Sports.

Positioned only one week after that of Aragón (Spain), the Japanese Grand Prix presents a great logistical challenge for the teams since it is a journey of several thousand kilometers in just a few days. For this reason, the FIM, IRTA and Dorna Sports have decided to review the program for Friday by shifting all free practice sessions from the day to the afternoon.

« Due to the logistical challenge posed by such a sequence of Grands Prix, with possible delays linked to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and its effects on the airspace, it was decided to cancel the morning session for all categories. In other words, FP1 of Moto3™ will start at 13:15 p.m., that of Moto2™ at 14:10 p.m. and that of MotoGP™ at 15:05 p.m. Note that for MotoGP™, this session will no longer last 45 but 75 minutes, as compensation. The combined results of FP1 and FP2 will determine the automatic deductions for Q2, can we read in the press release.

Activities will still be organized to allow fans, deprived of MotoGP™ since 2019, to have the opportunity to interact with their heroes. There will also be action on track at Mobility Resort Motegi from 9am with the third round of the Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup. »
