Although not part of the 2016 French gravel rally championship (it will resume its place next year), the Terre de Vaucluse benefited from a very decent field. The main absentee was Jean-Maric Cuoq, due to his car being unavailable. Cyrille Féraud, who bought one of the old C4s WRC de Cuoq, was intractable during the first stage, ahead of Paul Chieusse (Peugeot 307 WRC) and Lionel Baud (Ford Focus WRC) by more than 1′. Alas, on Sunday morning, Féraud's teammate was 5′ ahead at the start of SS 8, and Féraud preferred to retire. Baud, who had taken the advantage over Chieusse before the latter's withdrawal (clutch) therefore inherited the victory: “It's a shame for Féraud, but it allows us to end the year in style, after having started badly at the Dakar. I am very satisfied with this Focus, I prefer it to my previous Fiesta because it is more agile and the driving pleasure is greater. Next year, we will aim for the Earth championship title with this mount”. Alain Deveza, at the wheel of a twenty-year-old Subaru Group A, and Jean-Luc Morel (Subaru Group N), the only driver to have participated in the 26 editions of the Terre de Vaucluse, completed the podium.
