The suspense that this 18 was preparing for use edition with its formidable field (115 starters) came to an end with the implacable domination of Consani. From the outset, the Marseillais stunned the competition by setting the best time in the long SS1 (19,625 km), relegating Margaillan to 21'', Oberti to 24'' and Ganguet to 31''. Mass was said, especially as we witnessed the cascading abandonments of Saunier (Punto Abarth A7S), Roche (2016 winner / Fiesta R5) and Margaillan (Skoda R5). Consani then atomized the rest of the troop by achieving the 9 times of the event to win with a 2’19” lead. It is therefore for the gain of the 2e place that the public was vibrating: it was only at the end of 1re stage that Oberti definitely managed to beat Ganguet on the podium, the latter however dominating Group A until the end ahead of Deplanche. Like Consani, Guerrero (F2000) and Grandordy (N) flew over their category without the slightest worry. Eighth overall and leader in GT, Porsche driver Estienne retired in SS3 in favor of Panagiotis.
