After waking up from Freddy Loix (Peugeot 307 WRC) who scored the scratch in the third special by regaining a ten-second lead over leader Jean-Marie Cuoq, the Focus WRC driver responded in the following special by setting the best time and regaining almost five seconds from Belgian. Germain Bonnefis pursues the 307 WRC, only two tenths behind. Jean-François Mourgues (Peugeot 206 WRC) has reduced his pace and is 42 seconds off the provisional podium. The top five is completed by the Fiesta RS WRC of Julien Maurin which is 29 seconds behind at the end of a wet course. Ludovic Gal is first in the S2000 out of 207 S2000s, almost 40 seconds behind fifth place.
This afternoon the drivers will compete in the second passage of the special stages on the program for the first stage of the Rally of the Cévennes. This morning, the conditions were very difficult with wet courses and thick fog present on the stages.
