Figure of rally in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence region, amateur pilot Éric Fanguiaire died at the age of 55 following an illness on Monday, December 27. The entrepreneur, an asphalt specialist, notably won six editions of the Rallye de Haute-Provence, out of a total of 45 rallies won in 93 starts.
His last podium dates back to 2017, where he finished second in the Rallye de Haute-Provence behind a certain Sébastien Loeb. As a sign of destiny, Éric Fanguiaire bought an Xsara Kit-Car driven by the Alsatian in 2001 in the French Championship. On board, he notably finished third in the 2005 Coupe de France Final.
More recently, Éric Fanguaire acted as sponsor to help young talents get started in rallying. All AUTO editorial staffhebdo sends its condolences to the family, loved ones and friends of Éric Fanguaire.
