With the four-time winner Salanon absent and Mottard (Ford Fiesta) out, the list of contenders for the final victory was growing. From the start, Bonnefond (Fiat Punto S2000) took the advantage and was 6” ahead of Dommerdich. Pezzutti is at 22” followed like his shadow by the leader of group N, Barral. The next day, Bonnefond signed three scratches and increased his lead. Barral lost everything in SS 5 by setting the 103rd time, leaving Moretton to take over the group. The last lap of three stages should have been a long, quiet river for the leader but, in the last stage, Bonnefond went off the road and left the victory to Dommerdich, surprised by this last minute gift. At 43”, Pezzutti won Group A, especially as Risaletto gave up with mechanical problems after SS3. Greiffenberg closed the podium by signing a great victory in group R, 1' ahead of his Swiss opponent Vukasovic. Moretton easily won in group N. Alone in GT, Avandetto scored a victory which made him forget his retirement last year. F. Lombard
