Finland – SS14: Tänak gives himself some fresh air

Ott Tänak felt threatened, he responded on the track. The Estonian scored his first scratch of the day during SS14, in 10'12″6. On the long 20 kilometer special, the leader of the Rally from Finland increased their lead against Esapekka Lappi (4th, +2″7) and Kalle Rovanperä (2nd, +1″3). The two Finns from Toyota are getting closer and closer for 2nd place: Rovanperä is only 3″4 behind his compatriot. Lappi is now relegated to 9″5 behind Tänak overall. Elfyn Evans (3rd, +2″4) is still hanging on and remains less than 18 seconds behind the leader.

All four drivers are in their own league, far ahead of the rest of the field. Thierry Neuville (5th, +14″7) continues to take off ahead of Takamoto Katsuta (6th, +16″2) and now has a 5″2 lead over the Japanese. The four Fords bring up the rear, with Adrien fourmaux (7th, +23″5) who was the fastest on the team M-Sport.
